COMPENSATORY CORNER

Memory & Active Mind

Memory is one faculty that all survivors  have a difficult time with.

This  shortcoming is compounded by the fact that so many things are new to  us and our world. We struggle to write things down, and then have to remember where we wrote it down. Then we are faced with the task of reading our own handwriting: we all know doctors’ handwriting is bad but have you seen a person with  poor coordination write?

The most simple thing to do is to reduce the need to remember very many things. Sounds trite I know but only remembering a few necessary things and keeping them in the front of your mind also helps. Have an active mind with remembering these few things. Then expand to a couple more. We do not have to lead busy lives like all our society expects. We are other-worldly and we do not need to conform to the ‘busyness’ values that permeate our western world.

There are many things written about memory and how to compensate. These are best left to other sources to talk about.

For my purposes here, I am questioning how many things we really need to remember in the first  place.
